Technical Placements

Here at EWBNZ we believe that building the technical capabilities of local engineers and technicians is the most sustainable way to achieve outcomes such as making sure everyone has access to safe and secure drinking water.

One of the ways we do this is through the secondment of experienced volunteer engineers to host organisations, in conjunction with VSA. These placements are typically 1-2 years, and are centered around assessing and developing the skills of the staff in the host organisation. EWB provides some pre-departure training for the volunteer that is focused on how to undertake capability assessments and develop appropriate methods and tools for teaching the appropriate skills (usually on-the-job learning), as well as some information on the international development context that they will be working in.

We are currently recruiting for suitably skilled professionals to undertake one of these placements in each of Vanuatu's six provinces with the Department of Water Resources. If you:

  • Have at least four years experience working in engineering, project management, the trades or construction,
  • have an aptitude for passing on your skills to others,
  • are willing and able to be based in Vanuatu for between 1-2 years,
  • and are keen for the adventure of a lifetime -

Then please get in touch with Dane at [email protected] for a no obligations chat.
