Dane Hart Logo

Dane Hart

Chief Executive

Dane has been involved with EWBNZ in various roles since its inception before coming on board as the Chief Executive in 2018. Having volunteered and working across most areas of the organisation Dane has a good understanding of what makes volunteers tick and the potential that the organisation has to create positive change.

Prior to studying Natural Resources Engineering at the University of Canterbury, Dane spent a year living with a community in rural Vanuatu. This was an experience that he credits as having taught him many things, including insight as to how engineering, when used appropriately, can be used to provide opportunities for others to support them lifting themselves out of poverty.

Dane is a passionate advocate for learning and firmly believes that engineers need to embrace the skills of other sectors in order to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world. He loves tramping and stand up paddle boarding, and also enjoys developing a good Excel spreadsheet if there is time.

Hamish Lindsay

Programme Manager

Hamish joined EWB in March 2021. He was previously a programme manager with UNICEF NZ for 12 years looking after their supported programmes in the Pacific and South East Asia, mainly in the areas of WASH and education, with a focus on Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Timor Leste. He frequently travelled to the countries of implementation, and liked nothing more than chewing the fat with community members on remote Pacific islands.

Prior to UNICEF, Hamish worked with the Australian Red Cross in the Tracing and Refugee Services Unit, and had a one year placement in Eritrea with ICRC managing cross-border family reunions for those separated by the conflict with Ethiopia.

A long time ago, Hamish studied Mechanical Engineering at Glasgow University and also taught engineering at a technical school and university for 2 years in Burkina Faso as a volunteer, an experience which completely changed his outlook and shaped the rest of his career. He is delighted to be coming back to his roots in engineering and applying this technical knowledge and previous experience to Engineers Without Borders, and following his passion in improving access to clean drinking water and renewable energy.

Hamish enjoys trail running around the Moutere hills at his home near Nelson, drumming, ukulele and spending quality time with his family.
